“Back in what they called the 21st Century,

they still put children in cages.”

video excerpt

In 2013, a first series of Letters from the Future arrived, apparently from future archeologists trying to decipher what we were thinking back in the 21st Century.  Now, in 2017, another batch of Letters from the Future has been uncovered, this time focused on a single theme: the Incarceration Culture of the 21st Century.

On September 17, ARTifACTS and Credible Threat will use music, dance, spoken word and large-scale visual art installations to translate and interpret these messages from the future.

WHERE ONCE THERE WERE CAGES will begin at an undisclosed location somewhere in what is currently called Seattle. We will walk about half a mile on public sidewalks – flat and fully accessible – around a complete city block, ending near the beginning and near the meeting location. The walking performance will last about an hour. Dress for walking and for weather, since a little rain will not stop us.

The performance is free, but space is limited, so please let us know that you can join us.
