Masks, movement, visual art and spoken word will be part of TENT CITY PLANET, an outdoor theatrical protest event on 9/11 to remember forgotten, invisible, surplus people, from the captive population of Gaza to the still-unreturned evacuees from New Orleans to expelled hutong-dwellers in China to the homeless residents of Seattle.
I am in heaven now.
I no longer feel the cold.

“Nine years after 9/11, the world is increasingly divided between those who have too much and those who have too little. Is Patriot Day being used to remember, or to forget?” says local playwright and activist Edward Mast, who wrote and will direct the performance.
TENT CITY PLANET and the Surplus People Performance Co. are projects of the Theater Squad, whose previous 9/11 remembrance projects have included SLEEPWALKING APOCALYPSE and WITHOUT END. This performance will feature Meg Savlov, Betsey Beckmann, Charlie Bommarito and other local actors, dancers and musicians. Settings by artist Lisa Bade
