SUNFLOWER: Two Questions

a performance and discussion

adapted by Edward Mast     from the story by Simon Wiesenthal

Saturday October 8, 2:00 pm

Sunday October 9, 7:00 pm

SUNFLOWER: TWO QUESTIONS is a short play created to stimulate conversation about justice, forgiveness, privilege, complicity and moral choice in a time of difficult change.  The play is adapted from The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal, who was most famous for his work with the Jewish Documentation Center and bringing Nazi war criminals to trial.  However, his book The Sunflower, instead of focusing on his relentless search for justice, has the subtitle On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness, and begins with a conversation between a dying Nazi soldier and the Jewish inmate of a concentration camp.

The performance itself will last less than 30 minutes, performed by two actors seated with the audience. The short performance will lead directly into an open-ended conversation with the audience, asking two questions that are directly suggested by the story and the play.  The whole event should last two hours or less, including introductions and discussion.

No transactions are happening in any direction for this piece.  We won't even ask for donations at the end.
